At Ghost Ranch, Georgia O’Keefe’s home West of Abiquiu, New Mexico, she had an ominous view of El Pedernal, the legendary mountain she adored.
She said that God told her if she would paint it enough, He would give it to her. She included it in at least 28 of her paintings through the years.
Acrylic painted on 100 year old ledger pages, glued to gallery wrapped canvas.
This painting is part of a trio series done in the warm, sun-baked, high desert colors of that enchanted place.
