“Quanah Parker”
I’ve had several people request that I do something smaller that would be more affordable, so here is my most recent painting. It is 24” x 24”, so it still has a nice presence.
As with many of my other paintings, it follows the body of work depicting Chief Quanah Parker and his challenges of the culture clashes with the encroaching “Americanos”.
In preparation for painting, I covered the canvas with 1890s, handwritten deed documents from Parker County, Texas. Parker County was named after Chief Parker’s Mother’s uncle, Isaac Parker so they are a relic from the time period incorporated into the artwork giving it a richer meaning.
